About CALM

Who we are

The Charleston Archives, Libraries and Museums Council (CALM) is a group of Charleston, S.C. area organizations interested in preservation of and access to historic and contemporary materials, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery. CALM provides an opportunity for participants in the archives, library, museum and records communities to interact in a supportive environment for the exchange of ideas and information.

What we do

CALM has regular meetings at which participants can network, exchange information on activities at their institutions and receive assistance with professional and technical issues.

CALM also sponsors speakers at meetings and workshops on topics of interest to the membership. Past presentations have included applying for preservation grants, ADA law and compliance, economical environmental monitors, book preservation and repair, and mold prevention.
