Lecture and Book Signing - February 11, 2015 @ 7:00pm

The Charleston Historical Society and the Irish and Irish American Studies Program at the College of Charleston will co-sponsor a lecture and book signing at the Addlestone Library—College of Charleston Room 227 on Calhoun Street on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 7:00 PM. The lecture, entitled, "Patrick N. Lynch: Third Catholic Bishop of Charleston” will be presented by Stephen Jennings White, Sr. This lecture is based on Dr. David Heisser and Mr. White’s research on the details of the life of this prominent and famous Irish immigrant who rose to a position of immense importance in his adopted city, state, nation and the Catholic Church. His trip to the Vatican for the President of the Confederate States of America in the midst of an increasing crisis in Charleston and the peril facing its Southern brethren is but a chapter in his illustrious life. The lecture is free and open to the public.

For more information about this lecture and all future lectures, call Stephen White at the Charleston Historical Society at (843) 723-3398, or at the Karpeles Museum at (843) 853-4651.
